Ceane,
I can’t tell you how pleased I am with the extra light that your chronicles have shed on certain subjects in my classroom. From J.V. Thompson to Kentuck Knob, from Ohiopyle to critical moments in the Pittsburgh Pirates history, your work has found ways to bring certain historical people, places, and events to life that the standard history textbook could never include. My students enjoyed the unique content and the engaging style as well. I think it’s fantastic that you’ve been able to take stories of local interest and make them jump off the page in a way that helps the students in this area realize how much history is truly all around them. I look forward to using your Chronicles in the future and I know they will continue to be a great resource for my classroom.
-Joshua Scully, history teacher, Uniontown, Pa.
Ceane,
I have just finished reading your Chronicle on General ‘Mad’ Anthony Wayne from the “Haunted Pennsylvania” segment of CC III. The students responded well to the reading. Our textbook devotes only two pages to Wayne. So it was nice to have your Chronicle on him as a complimentary piece. The students were interested in the content, especially since this particular Chronicle delivers both the historical and the supernatural elements of Wayne’s impressive story. I asked students to provide me with feedback, even going so far as to ask them to compare your Chronicle with their textbook. I received numerous comments. The students were impressed with the detail and the more personal portrayal of Wayne that your Chronicle delivers as opposed to the cut-and-dry information the textbook supplies. Last but not least, the students liked the quotations at the beginning of this Chronicle, which help to highlight the colorful character that was ‘Mad’ Anthony Wayne.”

Ceane,
I can't tell you how impressed I am with the new edition, I love that the binding is that shade of green and I can't wait to read every single word.
I am truly honored that you included my vignette and am extremely touched that you mentioned me in your acknowledgements. (Always wanted to be a muse.)
You should be so very gratified. Only another writer can understand the WORK, HEART and SOUL that go into an endeavor like COUNTY CHRONICLES V.
I tip my Irish hat to you. You have outdone yourself yet again.

COUNTY CHRONICLES, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME! A VIVID COLLECTION OF PENNSYLVANIA HISTORIES, by Ceane O'Hanlon-Lincoln, is an eclectic collection of various historic happenings in Pennsylvania, immigrant stories, Pennsylvania wildlife, concluding with verbal and pictorial snapshots of Pittsburgh and Connellsville. Each historic happening is told in an easy-to read down to earth style that brings history to life in the modern day world. The vignettes read as if told by a story teller. In fact they could easily be read aloud for better enjoyment. She has included Massey's [Harbison] story in this book. Ceane's history is impeccable and thoroughly researched. She brings to life history in such a way that her books should be used in high schools to spur interest in history, where the subject is often boring.
A section of Ceane's book includes stories of actual immigrants to Pennsylvania. She typically asks various people to write their story then edits it to fit her style of writing. These stories make for extremely interesting reading and are a vital part of the history of Pennsylvania so often overlooked in the classroom. I highly recommend COUNTY CHRONICLES to both history buffs and non-history buffs alike.

Ceane:
I must pause in my day to tell you how much I always enjoy your writing! I have a much greater understanding of Pennsylvania history now, because you make the stories so interesting and easy to read. That's what it is--your COUNTY CHRONICLES are so readable! I can't wait to start reading them to Isabelle one day, and then she can read them for herself and feel such pride that Ceane O'Hanlon-Lincoln is her "Nana"! Thank you for making us all so proud of you! You're a great teacher of Pennsylvania history, and an even greater writer!

~ Danielle Mohar, Uniontown, Pa.
Dear Ceane:
I just finished "The Village" in COUNTY CHRONICLES Volume II. I told my husband how much I enjoy your books. The funny thing is I was totally uninterested in history in school, much less in Pennsylvania's history. But after each Chronicle in both your books, I want to hop in the car and visit the place you have written about! I never realized how rich our history is here in our state! You are my favorite author, and I feel so honored to have met you. Please keep writing, and I will keep reading-- I love your COUNTY CHRONICLES! When will the third volume be out?
~ Nancy Anderson, Uniontown, Pa.
Dear Ceane,
Recently; I finished reading COUNTY CHRONICLES Volume II. I enjoyed reading about all the famous people connected to Pennsylvania, especially the chapters on Jimmy Stewart, Charles Lindbergh, the Johnstown Flood and Henry Frick. I can remember my Dad talking about Frick. Your books make history come alive, and I look forward to reading Volume III. Thanks for including a map of all the counties in PA. That is so helpful! Thanks again,

~ Andrea Corsillo, Alexandria, Va.
Ceane:
I received COUNTY CHRONICLES Volume II last week. Every chance I get I read a chronicle or two, and always I find myself wanting more (and if you remember me from school, I was not much on History). But the way you capture it makes it so interesting. In fact, I think it is great!
~ Roseann Carbonara, Alexandria, Va.

Ceane:
This book reads like whip cream-- it is so smooth! It is my contention that COUNTY CHRONICLES should be a supplementary text for the local history courses taught in our Fayette County school system."I don't know how it is possible, but I like County Chronicles Volume II even better than the premier volume. You have a true gift. Keep going; I want to discover every county in Pennsylvania. Your Chronicles, in both books, are arm-chair travel, as well as time-travel for witnessing our state's exciting history! Schools all across the commonwealth should be using COUNTY CHRONICLES I and II and all future volumes as supplementary readers for their history students. ~ Gloria Rock, Connellsville, Pa.

"COUNTY CHRONICLES, a Vivid Collection of Fayette County, Pennsylvania Histories contains accurate and factual observations about the bagpipes, information that is often presented incorrectly by authors who are not pipers or who do not study bagpipes as a profession. Ceane has done an excellent job on a difficult subject, with endearing personal touches."
~ George Balderose, Director, The Balmoral School of Piping

"COUNTY CHRONICLES is a writer's treat. The book is meticulously researched, beautifully written and artfully presented. Each page turn takes you to another event, era and tale from the history of the county. I have truly enjoyed every moment spent with this book, and it will be a dear friend that I visit many times in my future. Beyond that, however, is the fact that this is a tremendous research resource. I thought that they no longer made books of this quality until I purchased the COUNTY CHRONICLES. I'm glad to see that quality writing and publishing have not gone out of style. I plan to own and enjoy each of the books in this series."
~ Patty Wilson, Author, Historian, Bedford County, Pa.
Television News report:
"A Fayette County woman was tired of people putting down her hometown, so what did she do about it? She wrote a book to set the record straight. Ceane O'Hanlon-Lincoln of Connellsville says: 'COUNTY CHRONICLES examines the rich layered history of Fayette County from its earliest days to present day.' The author says the book will convince outsiders what she believes is true that Fayette County is 'a magical place just over the rainbow.' "
